Why in Myanmar? :Establishment story

Myanmar experienced a political upheaval in February 2021, and the social situation remains unstable. You may think, "Why are you doing business in Myanmar at a time like this?”.

I believe that in difficult times, that is time when there is a need to do business.

I had studied in Myanmar for about a year when I was a university student, and although I had thought about returning to Myanmar someday, I had no idea that it would become an education business.

After the political upheaval, young people in Myanmar who had to give up the dreams they had and lost their way are now trying to pursue their new goal of studying in Japan. When I was busy attending graduate school while working as a company employee in Japan, I noticed about this through a scholarship project that I launched with my friends. However, many of the students who applied for this scholarship were not given the opportunity.

With the frustration of that time in mind, I decided to move to Myanmar in October 2022 to find out what I could do. When I first moved to Myanmar, I lived with more than 100 Myanmar young people while working at a Human resource agency, and I made sure to go around and talk to many young people. I heard many of them say, "I want to continue my studies, but it is difficult and expensive to study abroad..." While listening to their voices, I heard from one of my friends that there was a tutoring school in Okayama, my hometown, that was trying to establish a study-abroad support business for Myanmar. That is how "Zen Mirai Myanmar" was born.

Future Vision: Career Education

Due to the unstable social situation in Myanmar, many young people are unable to go to school and have little interaction with others because they are hesitant to talk to strangers. It is difficult for young people to have hope for the future, and many are worried that they do not know what they should do in the future because they do not have much experience outside.

We understand that it is difficult to think about the years ahead when one's personal safety is not protected. Nevertheless, I have been involved with many students and the ones who are taking chances are those who are taking action toward their future dreams, rather than those who just want to escape or want to go to Japan. This is because such students are able to keep making small daily efforts.

While providing study in Japan support services for Myanmar students, we would like to work on "career education" in the future, which is almost nonexistent in Myanmar at present. For example, we will create opportunities for volunteer activities at NGOs, internships, and company visits to encourage students to think about their future. We will also provide career counseling and seminars to Myanmar youth in Japan, and offer necessary support services for those who wish to pursue higher education.

Education takes time to produce results, but we believe that it can have a significant impact on society. By creating educational opportunities, we will nurture human resources who will be active in Japan, Myanmar, and the world 10 to 20 years from now!
